Bob Dunlap - Managing Partner
Bob has been in the
technology industry for over 30 years. During this period, he has raised
approximately $50 million in venture capital & served as CEO for four different
TEI Ventures technology companies. One was a 16 city cable TV company (PSTV),
developed over 5 years, then sold to Time Warner. Another was an international
systems-integrator & corporate network management company (TEI SkyNetworks),
which was sold to Vodafone's UK-based parent company. Another was a multi-city
Wireless-Internet Service Provider (ISP) company (AirComm), sold to a larger ISP
(MultiNET Connections).
Bob is currently Managing Partner of TEI ASSOCIATES and leads our business
consulting team. They conduct initial discussions with senior management of each
new client company in order to fully understand their business goals &
objectives before the technology consulting team begins their analysis of the
client’s current-use-of-technology. He is also very involved in evaluating new
technologies and suppliers to be utilized by our clients. He and his team
negotiate wholesale prices, or high level discount rates, once new suppliers
have met all the other qualifications for providing products and services to TEI
ASSOCIATES’ client-base.
David Cox - Senior
Partner
David has been a
partner with TEI Ventures for over 20 years. During that period he has served as
Chief Operating Officer (COO) and/or Chief Financial officer (CFO) for several
of TEI Ventures' technology portfolio companies. He also was CFO for Ambassador
International, a Canadian-based international direct marketing firm. While with
Telecommunications, Inc. (TCI), at that time the nation's largest cable TV
operator, he served as an operations turn-around specialist. Under his
leadership as General Manager, two major TCI multi-city franchise regions, Utah
and Tennessee, experienced dramatic financial reversals.
At TEI ASSOCIATES, David's responsibilities are divided between Client
Operations and Supplier Relations, both of which utilize his unique blend of
operations, financial & technical expertise. Client Operations covers the period
from the client's initial current-use-of-technology analysis, to the solution
design stage, to the final technology solution recommendation presented to the
client and through the implementation stage, if the client accepts our
recommendations. Supplier Relations includes assisting in the process of
identifying and evaluating new supplier sources. Also, it focuses on maintaining
the working relationships with this broad and diverse network of approved
suppliers which is so vital to the basic supplier-independent, technology
cost-savings consulting services we deliver to our clients.
John Whitson -
Technology Partner
John has been with TEI
Ventures for 6 years and has served several of its’ portfolio companies as Chief
Technology Officer (CTO). He has a diverse technology background which includes
extensive experience with IP-based technologies (Voice-over-IP, IP Telephony,
etc.), call center technologies, open-source technologies, web & database
integration, voice & data network integration, network optimizations, VPNs,
Intranets, Corporate Portals, legacy phone system/computer network upgrades,
etc.
As Technology Partner, John is currently responsible for directing all aspects
of technology analysis and architecture for TEI ASSOCIATES' consulting practice.
For new clients, he and his engineering team collaborate with the client's
in-house and/or outsourced technology personnel to analyze their
current-use-of-technology. He then leads the design of the optimized technology
solution which meets the client's true technology needs. This team also
participates in the final technology solution recommendations presented to the
new client. For existing clients, John and his technical team are always on-call
for consultation on new technology cost-savings opportunities that arise, or to
address any of their more routine technology requirements as they evolve.
Terri Armstrong - Operations Partner
Terri has served in a number of operations and project management positions over
the last 20 years with TEI Ventures and its’ various portfolio companies. For
Racal-Milgo SkyNetworks, she successfully managed a one-year project to install
high-speed satellite (VSAT) connectivity and Point-of-Sale (POS) integration
into over 350 Lowes stores. She also was Vice President - Project Management for
Sunbelt Cable TV, where she was responsible over a 5 year period for the
construction or rebuilding of over 175 cable TV systems.
In her current role of Operations Partner at TEI ASSOCIATES, she is responsible
for the implementation of all client technology solutions once the final
solution recommendation has been presented and the client has agreed to move
forward with implementation. Her team effectively serves as the client’s project
management team and is responsible for coordinating project schedules, contract
administration, project budgets, quality control and final acceptance of all
selected supplier deliverables. Terri and her team fill this role for new
clients, as well as existing clients when new needs arise.
